Compression of GHG emission from Rainfed and Irrigated Agriculture – A case study of Gujarat

 

  • 13 crops in pair (Irrigated and Rainfed) were studied from agronomic practices of view across Gujarat with individual detail of 77 farmers.
  • GHG emission in CO2 eq. per acre per season in Rainfed is 120 Kg whereas in Irrigated is 630 Kg.
  • To 100 Kg under Rainfed emits 24 Kg CO2 eq. wherein Irrigated it is 70 Kg.
  • Report was prepared to establish the fact that rainfed farming has an advantage than irrigated farming in this matter.
